What is GST Geocoding ?
Geocoding functionality is now live for all states and Union Territories
Dear taxpayers,
Currently every GST registration responds by ensuring the correct location of the business address via geocode. This is done by converting an address or place description into coordinates. This method is helpful in ensuring the accuracy of address details in GSTN records and verifying address location.
1. Geocoding current status
More than 1.8 crore geocodes have been completed so far.. Also, all new addresses after March 2022 are geocoded at the time of registration, ensuring accuracy and standardization of address data right from the start.
2. Is Geocoding Mandatory ?.
Currently, those who have taken GST before the introduction of geocoding are not forced to do so. May do in the future
3. Who is geocoding available ?
This functionality is available for regular, composition, SEZ units, SEZ developers, ISD, active, canceled and suspended taxpayers.
